every single time claudius mixes up ros and guil in the copies of hamlet i have saved:
- first claudius's 'yeah, i guess you're right, honey, those are their names' toast, and how gertrude deals with ros and guil's souvenirs
- claudius's 'thanks babe' smile in the second clip followed by his 'yeesh' expression
- third claudius is embarrassed and bemused but mostly he wants to get back to dancing with his wife (this clip is the one i was looking at originally for the little reynaldo moment at the end)
- we're all embarrassed for fourth claudius (guildenstern is played by a deaf actress and just ... thank you so much for teaching df claudius asl, magnus, so he never has to act this way in front of a deaf person)
- we don't even get to see claudius's reaction to being corrected in the fifth clip because he is out
- this clip has a rare gertrude mix-up! solely because gertrude is too hungover for this
- gertrude makes up for it in the seventh clip by drawing the most attention to the mix-up, it's brutal
- only note for claudius eight is that this is one of many instances where gertrude out-diplomacies claudius in this production, of all claudiuses i'd say patrick stewart gives off the most 'this is my first day' energy
- last clip is from the rosencrantz & guildenstern are dead film, because ... i love them (and also i'm pretty sure this wasn't as common a joke until r&gad! in some of the earlier hamlets, there's no confusion, gertrude is just doing a little remix with the names, and now look how many productions it's in)
