'Shakespeare Sidebar' is something of an in-joke between me and my online friends, for when I'm in a conversation and have to bring it to a halt so I can explain the intricacies of Elizabethan pronouns or the role of humoural theory in characterization or why Shakespeare is sometimes wrong about birds. We also call it the special interest button: the button is there for a reason! I've written any number of impromptu essays because I could not shut up and my friends kindly indulged me, so many I could make a book, or a website.
